Understanding the New Energy Efficiency Labels for LED Lights: A...
The energy efficiency labels on LED lamp packaging have changed due to updated regulations in Europe and the UK. The old system of A++, A+, etc., has been replaced. The new labels are a result of the EU 2019/2020 Single Lighting Regulation (SLR) and the EU 2019/2015 Energy Label Regulation (ELR). These regulations set more stringent efficacy thresholds, encourage circular economy design, and promote recyclability. While some LED lamps may now have lower ratings (e.g., E or D), they are still energy-efficient.
